Irreplaceable Family
This is a traditional watercolor portrait of my Great Aunt Toni and my cousin Isaac, her grandson. It is also a memorial portrait. Both passed away within a year of each other, and my mother asked me to paint them as a gift to Isaac’s mother.
I remember hot California summer days playing basketball with my brothers and cousins, running barefoot across the street from my grandma’s to my Aunt Toni’s house to tell her a story or to find snacks. I remember those two houses across the street from each other as the hub for my mother’s side of the family. And truly do I miss those hot California summer days with my family.
