Bomani

My 2nd ever traditional watercolor portrait painting. This piece was meant to speak to a childhood friend. She had lost her adoptive brother and adoptive father while she was away from home. When she thought of her losses, she would listen to a song with the memorable line: “I could really use a wish right now.” This piece was me trying to provide her a genie. The various cultures represented through different aspects of this painting were symbolic of the fact that she didn’t know what her cultural background was because she had been adopted at a young age.
